Between December 23, 2016 and January 15, 2017, a festive Christmas fair will take place in front of the Moskvarium pavilion #23 of the Country's Main Exhibition. Unique presents and organic food products will be available from the shopping huts. Street performances, fun games, master classes, and quests will all help the Exhibition guests feel the warm and happy atmosphere of the winter holidays.
Visitors will enjoy traditional Christmas drinks, delicious food and sweets, original New Year presents, music, interactive games, stage performances, and entertainment for the whole family.
Twenty-five festive huts are providing a variety of products for sale. Ten of them are selling original souvenirs, Christmas-tree decorations, beautiful glass presents, jams, honey, products from monasteries, and even caviar. The remaining fifteen huts are offering the fair guests various dishes: hot dogs and grilled sausages, Korean and Russian pies, pancakes with different fillings, sandwiches, sweet pastry, and hot beverages.
From January 1, 2017, a Christmas House will operate at the fair, where guests can meet the Guardian of Christmas, a friend of Snegurochka and student of Father Christmas. He is a modern guy, who doesn't have a long beard, but wears trendy clothes, has a stylish haircut, and uses hi-tech gadgets. Nevertheless, he strictly follows the Christmas traditions. The main task of the Guardian is to ensure that the fair guests have a great time at VDNH, and treasure their memories until the next year.
At Christmas House, visitors can get up-to-date information about the most interesting events taking place during the New Year holidays at VDNH. Master classes and workshops will be held here on the weekend, both for the adults and for the young guests of the fair. At Christmas House, visitors will get an opportunity to make their own handmade New Year presents and decorative items made of eco-materials, learn design basics, and solve magic riddles.
It will also be possible to get a map of the festive Photo Quest for the whole family at Christmas House, which will improve everyone's knowledge of VDNH history. The fair guests will have to follow a route indicated on the map, answer questions about the history of the Country's Main Exhibition, take pictures at every object indicated on the map, and upload the pictures on Instagram with following hashtags: #VDNH2017, #Christmas_fair_VDNH2017, and #VDNH_Moskvarium. Everyone who successfully completes the quest will receive an unforgettable Christmas present.
Another wonderful surprise for Christmas fair visitors at VDNH will be the street performances. Fantastic dancing animals, birds, and fish will entertain both children and adults, since the magic of street theatre affects people of all ages. While interactive outdoor games will help guests stay warm even on the coldest day of the festival.
