"A Space Odyssey" of the French theatre Les Plasticiens Volants is a parade of fantastic figures of incredible shapes, colours and sizes that move on the ground between people and float in the air. Especially on the occasion of VDNH's birthday on 1 August, a special performance will be prepared. This is a story about space travel and fairy-tale adventures of stars and planets.
An old tannery in Tarn became a home for Les Plasticiens Volants. After being restored, it turned into a real factory of wonders. When creating their figures, the largest of which reach 20-odd metres in length, the creators of the theatre set their imagination free. Wizards have been practicing for more than forty years, and during this time their theatre has entered the elite of global art. They created their shows for the opening and closing ceremonies of the Olympic Games in Barcelona, Sochi and Sydney, the opening of the Channel Tunnel, the Champions League final in France and other major world events.
At the Inspiration Festival in 2015, Volants performed the Pearl show. It was a romantic phantasmagoria about the life of marine inhabitants, where the shapes of flying figures were delicately and unusually combined with the architecture of the VDNH Central Alley. This year the guests will have a completely different, no less impressive story, which will involve more than 35 objects in the sky.
"Their performances invite the audience to plunge into the world of fantasy dreams like in childhood. Extraordinary images and spectacular visual solutions foment our imagination and give rise to a feeling of genuine delight" (Le Monde Culture).
