The tradition of holding open-air concerts has been around for several hundred years, both in Russia and around the world. "I am happy that the Green Theatre of VDNH is creating this new format – Stage on the Pond, and continues to carry on the tradition of big open-air concerts. We have received our own little corner, the "Bregenz", where fans gather to listen to good classical music from the best opera productions. This is very important. This is a win-win situation. We get a new public, because, maybe, for the first time many people will get to listen to serious classical music, and come to understand that it is far from boring, but rather beautiful and fascinating. And we, happily performing on such an unconventional stage, are glad to share our mood with those who will come to listen to the Opera-Gala".
The year 2017 precedes a landmark event of the Stanislavski and Nemirovich-Danchenko Moscow Academic Music Theatre. The theatre will be celebrating its 100th anniversary in the 2018/2019 season. During the time since its establishment, it has turned into one of the principal theatres in the world. Its productions are performed on the leading stages on a regular basis, and attract capacity crowds on their home stage in Moscow.
