The inspiring message "Winter of your achievements" will be the theme of this year's ice season at VDNH. The reconstruction going on at the territory of VDNH will not stop guests from enjoying the largest and most convenient skating rink in the country. On the contrary, Muscovites are being promised an even fuller programme: concerts, competitions, and workshops.Buy a ticket for the rink
The world's largest artificial ice skating rink will open on 1 December at VDNH with a performance by the Spanish high-altitude theatre Grupo Puja, which has been working with urban spaces for over 20 years, using circus art, dance, vertical sports, architecture, engineering, multimedia and live music. Grupo Puja took part in the opening ceremony of the European Athletics Championship (2006) in Gothenburg and the Festival of Light in Edinburgh.
The theatrical show "The Star's Journey" will be shown on the rink's opening day, 1 December, incorporating elements of sporting vertical acrobatics and gravity-defying stunts 35 metres in the air, created specially for Russia.
The VDNH skating rink will be located on the Main Alley: from Pavilion No. 1 "Central" to Pavilion No. 58 "Farming", with ice tracks circling the famous fountains. The ice will cover an area of more than 20,000 square metres.
Concerts and sporting events will take place over the course of the season. On weekends, as is tradition, dance workshops and morning exercises will be held. On Fridays – dance flash mobs. For children, there will be a separate ice area with its own rental pavilion. A glowing pedestrian bridge will cross over the rink, overlooking the illuminated ice and the central art installation. The total area of the installation is about 2,000 square metres, with the height of the semirings reaching 10 metres. The central image – a dancing female figure skater – will inspire Muscovites and guests in the capital to attain sporting achievements. The organisers encourage all visitors to use the hashtag #КатокВДНХ (#VDNHrink) and share their wins in social media.
The food court will provide guests with delicious food and hot drinks. The skating rink will work every day except Mondays, with a small break in the middle of the day for ice-cover renovation. Access to the ice will be via four rental pavilions. For those who require them, there are rental, sharpening and minor repair services for skates provided.
TIME: every day except Mondays.
