The online Nationwide Teaching Quiz – How Do Children Think? – will take place on 16 October 2021 at the Centre of Methodology of the Russia – My History Historical Park. The event will be hosted by Konstantin Raikin, art director of the Satyricon Theatre in Moscow, professor, People’s Artist of Russia and winner of two Russian State Awards.
This is the first such quiz in Russia; it offers an unbiased assessment of educators’ professional skills. Due to the ongoing pandemic, the event will take place online, with headquarters at the Centre of Methodology of the Russia – My History Historical Park. In regions where the epidemiological situation allows, such as St. Petersburg, Volgograd and Makhachkala, the event will take place offline as well.
Participation is open to all educators working at organisations across Russia with school children of any age.
Sign-ups opened on 4 October, the day before Teacher’s Day. So far, several thousand educators from Moscow, St. Petersburg, Volgograd, Yekaterinburg, Kazan, Novosibirsk, Surgut, Tyumen, Yakutsk and other cities have expressed their desire to join. Some of them are winners or runners-up of the Teacher of the Year competition. Participation in the quiz will give them a chance to share their professional experience with their colleagues, as well as assess their skills and find out where they need improving.
After the Teaching Quiz ends, the participants’ submissions will be assessed by leading education experts from 33 pedagogical universities in Russia, including the Moscow Pedagogical State University, Herzen University, Yaroslavl State Pedagogical University named after K. D. Ushinsky and others. The assessment criteria will include the contestants’ ability to weigh their own experience as educators and apply it to solving new problems, to think unconventionally, to find original, outside-the-box solutions, to express themselves as speakers and to be critical of the work done.
Any educator from any Russian region is eligible for the quiz. All you have to do in order to take part and assess your professional competence is to sign up before 11:59 p.m. on 15 October by following this link.
