As 2021 draws near, the country's Main Exhibition invites you to congratulate your loved ones by sending them a New Year e-card with the symbols of VDNH, one of Moscow's main tourist attractions, which receives millions of visitors every year. This unusual online gift will remind you and your family of the happy moments spent at the Exhibition.
The custom of congratulating each other with 'open letters' came to Russia from Europe in the second half of the 19th century, and the tradition of sending travel postcards with views of the places one liked most appeared a little later. With the advent of the Internet, this tradition has gradually transformed into a virtual exchange of postcards. The Exhibition's visitors can now congratulate their loved ones without leaving home, free of charge, by choosing a suitable postcard in the Mediateca of the VDNH Museum.
For the coming 2021, the VDNH Museum has prepared a new themed postcard with the symbols of the Exhibition. To share your holiday message with family and friends, go to the museum's Mediateca website and click on the Send a VDNH Postcard icon in the lower left corner of the homepage. You can choose the option you like in the gallery that opens, enter the e-mail addresses of the sender and the recipient and write your wishes.
According to the Chinese calendar, 2021 is the Year of the Ox. You can also pick a virtual message with the corresponding symbol in the Mediateca's gallery by choosing a postcard with an image of Pavilion No. 51 Meat Industry, where one of the most expressive VDNH sculptures is installed. In addition, the pavilion's main entrance is decorated with columns featuring ox torsos at the top.
VDNH Postcard competition
The Exhibition visitors can also submit their postcards to this section of the Mediateca. To do this, you need to create your own version of a graphic image associated with the Main Exhibition of the country and send it to mailmuseum@vdnh.ru not later than 28 December 2020. The email header should include the words 'VDNH Postcard'. The most interesting postcard will be featured in the Mediateca, and its author will receive two tickets to the skating rink. The results of the competition will be announced on 13 January 2021.

- Format: jpg.
- Size: 1600x1067 or 1067x1600.
- Resolution: 300 dpi.
The tradition of sending e-postcards with views of the country's Main Exhibition appeared a year ago thanks to the opening of the VDNH Museum and the creation of the Mediateca, a unique electronic collection of materials about the Exhibition, which is constantly being updated with new documents.
