Sports in winter: sites for outdoor activities at VDNH

8 january 2021

VDNH is one of the most popular places for residents and visitors of Moscow who are interested in pursuing outdoor activities. The vast grounds of the Exhibition offer many opportunities for you to exercise while observing social distancing. Here, in winter, you can skate, ski, ride a snowmobile, run or work out, play football or improve your agility and coordination at the rope park.

The biggest ice rink in Moscow, situated along the Central Alley, is open to the visitors of VDNH all winter. It occupies over 20.5 thousand square metres of ice for you to enjoy any type of skating you like. Here you can polish your skating skills, learn new jumps and spins in figure skating or just glide along slowly while admiring the architecture of the historic pavilions, holiday artworks and the picturesque pedestrian bridge. Our youngest guests, from 3 to 8 years old, can skate at the special kid's rink opposite Pavilion No. 66. You can find the schedule and buy tickets in the special section on the VDNH website. There is one more ice rink, in Ostankino Park, by the stadium. Admission is free upon prior registration on the website of the Exhibition. Both ice rinks have rental kiosks, lockers and skate sharpening services (the ones at the central rink are located in Pavilions Nos. 1 and 2.

Next to the food court on the Central Alley you will find the children's snowmobile track. It is suitable for young racers of different ages. There is a simpler route for children aged from 4 to 8. Their snowmobiles have the maximum speed of 6 to 8 kilometres per hour. Children over 9 years old can take a more complex route, with snowmobiles reaching speeds of 12 kilometres per hour. Our experts are on the track at all times to ensure safety, instruct young riders about the rules and provide protective gear. The track is open on weekdays from 11am to 9pm and on weekends and holidays from 10am to 10pm.

For fans of skiing, Ostakino Park has opened special skiing tracks. The classic cross-country ski route is 5 kilometres long, and there is also a 500 metre-long route for younger skiers. You can find route plans on information stands in the park and on the VDNH website. If you don't have your own skiing equipment, you can get some in one of two rental points, near the free ice rink or by the main entrance of Ostankino Park. All components of the equipment are cleaned and disinfected regularly. For more information, call +7 (925) 429-70-29.
