A Midsummer Night's Dream water show is back at Moskvarium

26 may 2021

A Midsummer Night's Dream musical featuring sea mammals and circus artists returns to the Moskvarium at VDNH for its third season. The one-of-a-kind show will be playing on the water stage of one of Europe's biggest aquaria from 29 May to 12 September 2021.

More than 150 shows of the water musical A Midsummer Night's Dream are scheduled to play at VDNH's Moskvarium between 29 May and 12 September this year. The show features sea mammals and over 100 circus artists: trapeze gymnasts, acrobats, singers, dancers and synchronous swimmers. A system of custom suspension equipment has been mounted under the big top to support numbers in different genres. The circus artists do stunts at an elevation of ten metres above the audience and the giant water bowl in which the sea mammals perform.

Starring in the show are dolphins, sea lions, a walrus and orca whales. The musical is based on a fabulous story of love and friendship, written exclusively for the Moskvarium. The directing team were inspired by old Russian customs and rites of the Slavic Festival of Ivan Kupala.

The show is accompanied by 5D effects such as ocean odours, fog and sea breeze. Among the show's decorative centrepieces are the 32 dancing fountains soaring nine metres high.

The musical A Midsummer Night's Dream was created exclusively for the Moskvarium by Red Square media group, a mass media and entertainment industry leader. The show premiered in June 2018. The musical sold out for two consecutive seasons and was enjoyed by upwards of 300,000 spectators.

Shows start at 11 a.m., 2:30 p.m. and 6 p.m. There are no age limits, but available seating is limited to 50% of room capacity, subject to the applicable safety precautions. For show dates and ticket prices, please visit the Moskvarium website.
