Music in the evenings at VDNH's greenhouse and veranda

Between 5 and 8 August, the greenhouse of Pavilion 14 (Republic of Azerbaijan) will host several musical concerts. The programme is quite diverse, ranging from classics and jazz to fusion and trance. Both solo musicians and bands will be performing. In addition, the summer veranda of the House of Culture will host an evening programme titled Time for Three on 7 August. VDNH's guests will get to hear Sandor Torres, a piano player from Cuba.

At 9:00 p.m. on 5 August,the Simple Music Ensemble will appear at the greenhouse with a concert titled Vivaldi VS Einaudi. The audience will be invited on a musical journey from the 18th to the 21st century. The joint programme will feature works by Antonio Vivaldi, one of the greatest Italian composers, and his contemporary follower Ludovico Einaudi. The latter is known for his contributions to cinema. Among other films, Ludovico Einaudi worked on soundtracks for 1+1 and Nomadland.

At 9:00 p.m. on 6 August,the greenhouse will welcome visitors to another event, Neo-Classics: the Zeitgeist. There, they will be introduced to the works of modern composers like Joe Hisaishi, Max Richter, Ólafur Arnalds and others. The pieces will be performed by NEOrchestra. The audience will enjoy majestic string and piano music. The orchestra's artistic director, Ivan Nuzhin, laureate of all-Russian competitions and winner of special awards.

At 9:00 p.m. on 7 August, singer Sofi Okran will give an acoustic concert at the greenhouse, titled Soul Motion. She will perform worldwide jazz, funk and R&B hits. The vocalist's programme is based on a fascinating combination of American rhythm and Russian sensuality. This combination is what inspired the concert's title.

At 9:00 p.m. on 8 August, VDNH greenhouse visitors will enjoy an evening filled with hypnotic music at the Tropical Trance concert. It will feature the creations of minimalist composers: David Lang, Mick Gordon and Philip Glass. The genre they work in is characterised by rhythmic repetitions of short sound segments. This technique makes listeners feel like they are suspended in perfect stillness, encouraging relaxation and meditation. These pulsing beats will be performed by the Simple Music Ensemble.

On the same day, 7 August, the summer veranda of the House of Culture will host a premiere of the Time for Three programme by the Cuban pianist Sandor Torres at 8:00 p.m. Torres works in the unique fusion style. His music combines traditional Latin American genres like mambo, flamenco, rhumba, guaracha and more.

The concerts are organised in accordance with social distancing requirements while seated. The hall has limited capacity to 50% due to health-related restrictions. All visitors are expected to wear face masks. QR codes or vaccination certificates are not required.
