13 August 2021 marks the start of evening tours at VDNH. Each Friday and Wednesday at 7:30 p.m., the Exhibition's guests will be invited on an intellectual walking tour titled VDNH Cultural Code. In the Streetlights After Dark. On Saturdays and Sundays, there will be another tour starting at 8:30 p.m.: The Lights of VDNH at Night.
Evening- and night-time tours of VDNH during the warm season are a long-standing tradition of Russia's Main Exhibition. These thrilling sunset adventures are always highly popular with the Exhibition's guests, which is why we will be launching not one, but two such tours this season. LED lights shining on the famous VDNH monuments, illumination throughout the grounds, as well as the fascinating story told by the guide will reveal a completely new side of the architectural complex and the Exhibition itself.
The VDNH Cultural Code. In the Streetlights After Dark tour offers us to look back on the Exhibition through history. The tour is divided into two parts. The guests will begin their intellectual walk at the VDNH Museum, where they will see archival films, imagine what the Exhibition looked like in the Soviet era and examine the artistic details of iconic historical landmarks. The thematic platforms of the VDNH Museum will provide the participants with background information for the second part of the tour, which will take them on a walk down the Central Alley and immerse them in the Exhibition's authentic atmosphere. The excursionists will see the historical pavilions' modern-day appearance, hear some of the more obscure facts about the long history of VDNH and stroll past the iconic fountains, paying attention to the amazing architectural details that will be highlighted by the night-time illumination.
Tours run on Fridays and Wednesdays at 7:30 p.m. Duration: 2 hours. Admission: RUB 450. Tickets can be purchased at VDNH's ticket offices, as well as on the official website. Meeting spot: next to the VDNH Museum.
The other walking tour, The Lights of VDNH at Night, takes place at sunset. This scenic walk will reveal the Exhibition's beauty in the light of the setting sun. The route covers the key VDNH landmarks: the Main Entrance Arch, the famous fountains and the historical pavilions along the Central Alley. Hundreds of evening lights will illuminate the architectural details of VDNH's most recognisable symbols, adorning the Friendship of Peoples and Stone Flower fountains and giving them a special nocturnal splendour.
Tours run on Saturdays and Sundays at 8:30 p.m. Duration: 1.5 hours. Admission: RUB 300. Tickets can be purchased at VDNH's ticket offices, as well as on the official website. Meeting spot: Information Centre at the Main Entrance Arch.
