VDNH invites everyone to enjoy live music at the Greenhouse of Pavilion No. 14 Republic of Azerbaijan on 19 through 22 August. Visitors to Russia's No. 1 Exhibition are in for a series of musical treats: a tribute to rock icon Sting, Enigma and Enya covers by Imperialis Orchestra, the classy indie-pop duo Sobachiy Lie and the Simple Music Ensemble—a collection of assorted music virtuosos from top Russian and European orchestras.
On Thursday, 19 August at 9 p.m., the Dennis Nazarov Project will perform their Tribute to Sting & The Police, featuring songs from Sting's period with The Police, where he was lead vocalist from 1976 to 1984, as well as selected numbers from the musician's solo career. The all-time favourites like Shape of My Heart, Desert Rose, Englishman in New York, Fields of Gold and other Sting classics sound fresh in their novel jazz-rock interpretations.
An orchestra with a difference, Imperialis Orchestra will be playing covers of pop icons Enigma and Enya on Friday, 20 August, at 9 p.m. Blending space sounds, ethnic motifs, a hearty drive, tremulous vocals and Celtic tunes, the orchestra lends a new and original sound to the familiar pieces. Imperialis Orchestra will be presenting their new show programme at the VDNH Greenhouse.
The rebellious, both ironic and melancholy sounds of Sobachiy Lie, described as an indie-pop duo with a touch of class, can be heard on Saturday, 21 August, at 9 p.m. Some of the fortes of this up-and-coming musical collective are intense vocals, incisive lyrics and an exuberant sound.
The Simple Music Ensemble, manned by music virtuosos from top Russian and European orchestras, will play two concerts on Sunday, 22 August, at 7 p.m. and 9 p.m. The Ensemble will perform the more popular pieces by Italian neoclassical composer Ludovico Einaudi. Einaudi is known to the general public from his scores for such films as 1+1, Black Swan, I'm Still Here and Mommy.
Seating is subject to social distancing requirements during concerts at the Greenhouse of VDNH Pavilion No. 14. On account of the anti-coronavirus restrictions, space occupancy will be limited to a maximum of 50%. All visitors are expected to wear face masks. No QR codes or vaccination certificates are required.
