Opening of the Running Season with the Charity Foundation #MoreThanAble

25 march 2022

In April, Moscow will start the running season. VDNH invites guests to take part in outdoor sports and participate in city races and running tours.

As part of the work of MoreThanAble Charity Foundation, a special project, Running Tours, is being implemented. Running tours are held weekly, and the first one took place in December 2021. More than 150 people attended the events throughout the project. At the moment, three routes with distances from 11 to 16 km are developed: on the territory of VDNH, on the jogging trail around the Luzhniki sports complex and along the Garden Ring. The tours are conducted with the use of radio guides, which allows the participants to hear the guide well.

Tours are not only a sporting event but also have a cultural and educational function. Depending on the route, groups of up to 50 people accompanied by a guide will learn about the history of the city, architectural monuments and the significance of urban facilities. The tour guide is Vadim Zelenski, head of one of the largest business travel companies Zelenski Group and founder of the MoreThanAble Charity Foundation.

The MoreThanAble Charity Foundation helps young people and adults with diseases of the musculoskeletal system, various genomic pathologies and lesions of the nervous system. The foundation implements projects aimed at improving the resourcefulness of young people and adults with physical disabilities. As part of the foundation's work, fundraising events are regularly held, as well as individual rehabilitation programmes for the people under their care.

The goal of the #MoreThanAble Foundation is to make sports accessible to everyone. We help dozens of people lead more effective rehab and try their hand at sports. As part of the foundation's work, tasks are being developed to create platforms for communication, as well as to broadcast the importance of the topic of inclusion in the media space.

You can purchase a ticket for the tour on the Foundation's website in the Calendar of Events section. All proceeds from the events go to the foundation's budget. Thanks to this assistance, regular training sessions are held, and the people under their care are provided with special running equipment to participate in amateur races and marathons.
