Music of Spring at VDNH: Flower Rhapsody, Baroque Concerto and ABBA's Hits in the Greenhouse

Each year, Pavilion No. 14 Azerbaijan opens the spring season with a series of live concerts. Next week, visitors of the Exhibition will be presented with reinterpretations of classical pieces, the songs of ABBA and 18th-century music. The events will follow all Federal Service for Consumer Rights Protection (Rospotrebnadzor) recommendations.

The Flower Rhapsody event is scheduled for 4 March at 8 p.m. and will feature masterpieces of classical music performed by the Melodion quartet. As part of the event, you will hear popular pieces by Mozart, Vivaldi, Bach, Mauriat, Piazzolla and others.

On 5 March at 8 p.m., VDNH's music week will resume with the Around the Organ concert by the Zolotoy Vek (Golden Age) Capella. Musicians will demonstrate their proficiency playing multiple old-time instruments, including the organ, harpsichord and baroque strings. On Friday, the Capella will perform baroque concertos at the Azerbaijan Pavilion. The music of Bach, Handel and other prominent 18th-century composers and soprano singers will please any classical music enthusiast.

On6 March at 8 p.m., the Simple Music Ensemble chamber music studio will present their interpretations of popular tunes by German film composer Hans Zimmer. You'll hear soundtracks for Rain Man, The Lion King, The Prince of Egypt, The Rock, Gladiator, Angels & Demons, Pearl Harbor, Inception, Interstellar, Chappie, Pirates of the Caribbean, The Dark Knight, Sherlock Holmes and popular video games.

This Sunday, 7 March, at 8 p.m., Melodion will play the hits from ABBA, one of the most popular bands in popular music history. With high-energy and emotional interpretations of Dancing Queen, Happy New Year, The Winner Takes It All, Mamma Mia and other tunes by the string quartet, a festive atmosphere and good mood are guaranteed.

On8 March at 8 p.m., the grand holiday concert by ASET (Aset Samrailova) and jazz-rock band Electro Machine will take place. The repertoire of the ensemble includes original music and arrangements of famous jazz standards and global hits. Electro Machine incorporates elements of jazz, rock, soul, hip hop and funk to create space for innovations and demonstrate the versatility of musical art.

The concerts are organised in accordance with social distancing requirements while seated. The hall has limited capacity to 50% due to health-related restrictions. All visitors must wear masks and gloves.
