City Farm Switches to Summer Schedule

17 may 2021

In May, the family complex City Farm is switching to the summer schedule. It will be closed for cleaning on the last Monday of the month, with the next maintenance day planned for 31 May. On other days, the residents of the Farm are waiting for visitors from 10:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. on weekdays and until 8:00 p.m. on weekends.

The City Farm is one of the cosiest parts of VDNH. Moscow residents can visit the farm to spend time amongst nature without ever leaving the city. Visitors can encounter various farm animals, feed them and walk around rural landscapes. The complex is home to about 100 animals and birds. Its inhabitants include cows, sheep, goats, alpacas, raccoons, rabbits, chickens, ducks, geese, peacocks and others. Around 10–15 babies are born each year.

The establishment of the City Farm became possible thanks to the VDNH restoration programme which started in 2014. For the family centre, VDNH picked a location with historical connections to farming: pavilions of the former Livestock Town are located nearby, including Pavilion No. 47 Pig Breeding, Pavilion No. 48 Sheep Breeding, Pavilion No. 44 Cuniculture and others. The City Farm designed by WOW House was inspired by modern village style. The territory features village houses with gable roofs, wooden fences and small bridges and themed spaces, e.g., a barn, an orangery and others.
