Music Nights at VDNH's Greenhouse and House of Culture

Russia's No. 1 Exhibition invites everyone to enjoy live music at VDNH Pavilion No. 14 Republic of Azerbaijan and House of Culture from 31 August through 5 September. Different line-ups of musicians will be playing popular film tunes, timeless classics, their own compositions and an improvised electronic world music show.

NÉOrchestra will perform the show Neoclassics: The Pulse of Time at the Greenhouse of Pavilion No. 14 Republic of Azerbaijan at 9 p.m. on 31 August. The audience gets to hear and appreciate the music of such composers as Ludovico Einaudi, Max Richter, Olafur Arnalds and Joe Hisaishi.

At 8 p.m. on 2 September, the Simple Music Ensemble, a collective of music virtuosos culled from top Russian and European orchestras, will be playing film music by the popular film score composer Hans Zimmer at the VDNH House of Culture. Hans Zimmer has composed music for such films and animated cartoons as Rain Man, The Lion King, The Prince of Egypt, Gladiator, Angels & Demons, Pearl Harbor, Inception, Interstellar, Pirates of the Caribbean, The Dark Knight and Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows, to name only a few.

A Russian and international prizewinner, pianist and composer Ilya Polyakov will perform at the Greenhouse at 9 p.m. on 2 September. His show, titled Feel the Colour!, includes tracks from his recent solo album Colors. With his every piece of music, Polyakov purports to represent a specific colour. Whether or not he succeeds is up to the audience to decide.

Pianist Dmitry Sazonov will be playing his show Space and Time at the Greenhouse at 9 p.m. on 3 September. The show features music by Hans Zimmer, Ennio Morricone, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and Frederic Chopin, as well as popular film tunes and Sazonov's own compositions.

The young neoclassical pianist and composer Sergey Suvid will be playing a gig with a string quintet at the Greenhouse at 8 p.m. on 4 September. The concert is to promote Suvid's new album HORIZON. Raw emotion vibrates in every note of Suvid's music. His new album really strikes a chord with its poignancy and candour.

Alyona Minulina brings her electronic world music show to the Greenhouse at 8 p.m. on 5 September. Alyona improvises with her voice and beatbox, then the other musicians pick up her nascent compositions and develop them into vibrant soundscapes.

All concerts are compliant with the anti-coronavirus measures for the time being in force. Seating is arranged in accordance with the social distancing requirements.
